TAG Heuer has officially introduced its latest update to the Formula 1 Chronograph series, marking a fresh era in its partnership with Formula 1. This launch coincides with the brand’s new role as the official timekeeper for the 75th anniversary of Formula 1, following a highly anticipated partnership with LVMH that replaced Rolex.
The Formula 1 series has long served as TAG Heuer’s connection to motorsport, offering accessible chronographs that have evolved significantly since their debut in the 1980s. This 2025 iteration represents a shift in design and materials, elevating the series while maintaining its position as an entry point into TAG Heuer’s watch collections.
The new Formula 1 Chronograph introduces a 44mm titanium case with a thickness of 14.1mm and a lug-to-lug measurement of 47.3mm. Grade 2 titanium ensures the watch remains lightweight while offering durability. Two finishes are available: natural sandblasted titanium and a black DLC-coated version.
Both models feature a fixed aluminium tachymeter bezel, labelled “Speed” rather than the conventional “Tachymeter,” and come equipped with a fitted rubber strap secured by a pin buckle. The design balances boldness with wearability, thanks to its compact lug-to-lug size and asymmetrical case structure.
Inside the case is the TAG Heuer Calibre 16, based on the reliable Sellita SW500 movement. It offers automatic winding, a 42-hour power reserve, and a chronograph function. This movement continues to provide accuracy and functionality suitable for everyday use and racing-inspired activities.
The standout model in this series is the Oracle Red Bull Racing edition. This version swaps the aluminium bezel for a forged carbon alternative, while the dial incorporates the team’s signature colours and a subtle checkerboard pattern. The caseback includes exclusive Red Bull branding, making it a collector’s favourite.
The standard Formula 1 Chronograph models are available with various colour accents, including red, light blue, and lime green. The black DLC-coated versions maintain a stealthy appearance but reveal the accent colours in the strap’s mid-layer, adding a playful touch to the overall design. The natural titanium variant features red detailing, making it the boldest choice for enthusiasts.
TAG Heuer’s updated Formula 1 Chronograph series is competitively priced, with the base titanium model starting at CHF 4,600. DLC-coated versions are priced at CHF 4,800, while the Oracle Red Bull Racing edition is available for CHF 5,300. The first models, including the Red Bull edition, will be released in February 2025, with additional variants arriving later in the year.
This new collection redefines the Formula 1 range with its sharper case design, refined material choices, and thoughtful use of colour. The titanium construction ensures lightweight durability, while the understated incorporation of motorsport-inspired elements reflects a more contemporary design ethos.
Despite its bold presence, the watch remains wearable due to its ergonomic lug-to-lug dimensions, making it suitable for both enthusiasts and casual collectors. The incorporation of Red Bull Racing elements further strengthens TAG Heuer’s position within the Formula 1 world.
