The Seiko 5 collection was created in 1968 and re-launched in 2019, the collection was relaunched to market to younger generation looking for an affordable, sporty entry watch. Today the Seiko 5 line launches its first GMT caliber.
The GMT movement is based Caliber 4R a robust mechanism with a case that is just 0.1 mm thicker than the existing lines.
These three new watches inspired by Seiko 5 SKX models from the 1990s (hello nostalgia of the SKX007 / SKX009!) feature Hardlex-topped rotating 24-hour GMT bezels in three different bi-color options; black, blue and orange. SKX have been (and still are) one of the most loved sport watches for enthusiast. The case shape clearly draws inspiration from the SKX line and the dial as well.

The bezel’s ring indicator is made of Seiko’s Hardlex glass to deliver the high level of durability for which the Seiko 5 Sports collection is renowned.

The bracelet is a new design inspired by the original SKX in where the middle "beads" are polished and it creates a contrast with the solid feel of the beads binding it.
These watches are amazing.
We love what Seiko has done with this GMT release. Proving an affordbale, robust entry GMT watch which will certainly draw the younger generation and nostalgic of the SKX to buy one.
Specifically the SKK003 with the two tones bezel insert recalls a more-famous-gmt brand likely drawing attention for the same enthusiast and followers of the mighty crown.
