Breitling has made a significant enhancement to its Top Time Classic Cars Collection by incorporating a tourbillon into three of its models. These watches, originally created to honor classic automobiles, now feature the advanced tourbillon mechanism, melding contemporary horological technology with a retro flair. This new move further cements the bond between Breitling and the automotive legends – the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Corvette, and Shelby Cobra.
This model exhibits a 43mm bronze case paired with a titanium back and a green dial, echoing the color palette of the first-generation Ford Mustang (1964-1974).
It features a 44mm black ceramic case with titanium back, crown, pushers, and buckle. The blue dial pays tribute to the 1962 Shelby Cobra, developed by Le Mans winner Carroll Shelby.
This watch combines a 44mm black ceramic case with a walnut burl dial and a perforated leather racing strap, symbolizing the interiors of the 1960s “Sting Ray” Chevy Corvette.
Each of these watches is powered by Breitling's Caliber B21, a movement developed in collaboration with Manufacture La Joux-Perret. First seen in the Breitling Premier Tourbillon, this movement is known for its column-wheel-controlled design, horizontal clutch, and COSC-certified chronometer status. The skeletonized oscillating weight is visible through the caseback, offering a view of the intricate column wheel.
Breitling has carefully designed these models to reflect automotive themes. The tourbillon carriage, positioned at 12 o’clock, and the chronograph minute counter at 6 o’clock, mimic the appearance of vintage car dashboard gauges. Additionally, all three models feature a tachometer scale just inside the bezel, enhancing the automotive connection.
Priced at $47,000, these tourbillon-equipped Top Time models are a luxurious homage to automotive history, combining Breitling's watchmaking expertise with iconic car designs. They represent a unique blend of modern watch technology and vintage automotive aesthetics.
